Protect yourself from Contractor error |
Hiring a contractor to do any sort of work involves some risk. Despite our efforts to provide you with the most reputable and reliable contractors available, sometimes problems do arise. This may simply reflect a misunderstanding between contractor and client, or at worst, the contractor did not live up to your expectations or performed an inferior service.
If you are interested in protecting yourself further, consider purchasing a Buyer Protection Plan. The BasementDepot Buyer Protection Plan for Contractors provides that extra security you may need for "peace of mind" when hiring a contractor. Here is how it works:
- You must purchase a Buyer Protection Plan BEFORE any work is started by the Contractor.
- The contractor must be a BasementDepot-accredited contractor.
- After purchasing your Warranty, you must activate the Warranty and select your Contractor within 30-days of purchase. A Warranty Certificate is then issued. View a Sample Warranty
- The contractor will update your Warranty Certificate when the project is completed. When the contractor enters the completion date, your 6-month (180-day) warrany begins.
- If a problem occurs within the warranty period, you must file a Complaint within 180 days (6-months) of completion of the project.
- Once your complaint is filed, the contractor will respond within 10-days.
- BasementDepot will investigate the complaint and the contractor's response, and thereafter make a determination on whether or not the complaint is valid and covered under the Buyer Protection Program.
- BasementDepot will attempt to mediate the dispute and/or problem in an effort to resolve the matter.
- If mediation is unsuccessful and the problem is not resolved to the consumers satisfaction, the consumer will be instructed to obtain an estimate from another contractor to correct the problem.
- BasementDepot will pay the other contractor to perform the needed repairs up to the total amount of coverage, whichever is less.
